It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of
Jeannette (née Allain) Gallant, aged 90, at Dr.
Georges-L.-Dumont UHC. Surrounded by her family, she peacefully left
us on Friday October the 20th, 2023 to join her loved ones who
predeceased her: her husband Théodule (2016), her parents
Simon and Alice (née Richard), as well as two sisters,
Albertine and Alphonsine, and two brothers, Émile and
Léon.
Jeannette’s life journey is one of a strong,
resilient, and generous woman. Born in Bedec, her family is shaken by
the loss at sea of her father, a fisherman; from the young age of 11,
she embarks on a lifelong vocation of caring for and helping
others– first her younger brothers and sisters while her
mother had to compensate for the loss of the household’s
main income, then by leaving her native region to earn a modest salary
as a nanny, followed by her return to the region she calls home to
start a family with Théodule from Saint-Louis-de-Kent. For
over thirty years, she was employed at Foyer Maria in
Saint-Louis-de-Kent.
She will be greatly missed by her
four children – Claudine Disimone (Ettore) of Moncton, Nola
Ouelette (Normand) of Saint-Ignace, Jean-Guy (Majella) of Moncton, and
Claude Gallant (Anne) of Moncton – as well as seven
grandchildren – Janie, Paula (Patrick), Marco (Sara),
Samantha (Jacob), Marie-Josée,
Jérémie (Charline), and Monica (Maxime)
– and four great-grandchildren – Luca, Louis,
Alessandra, and Stella. Two sisters – Émeryse
Myette (late Donald) of Saint-Louis-de-Kent and Céline Roy
(Normand) of Richibucto –, two
sisters-in-law
– Zélia Gallant and Lorette Allain –,
and many nieces and nephews, will also be saddened by her
departure.
Visitation will be held at the Thompson Memorial Home in
Saint-Louis-de-Kent on Wednesday October the 25th at 1 pm until
departure for the funeral, which will be held at 4 pm at the
Saint-Louis-des-Français Roman Catholic church in
Saint-Louis-de-Kent. The family would like to extend their heartfelt
thanks to the staff of the Emergency and 4E Departments at Dr.
Georges-L.-Dumont UHC for their attentive care and compassion.

Brunswick Alzheimer Society or
the charity of your
choice.
