Jeanne’s Obituary
During the early morning of Tuesday, July 23rd, 2024 Jeanne ended her earthly journey while holding hands with her husband of 58 years, Paul. Growing up together being only 4 months apart in age, Jeanne and Paul became lifelong soul mates for the past 80 years. Reunited with her dog Teddy, which was her pride and joy, will bring joy to both.
Born in Mavillette, Jeanne was a daughter of the late Daley and Edmay (Doucet) Maillet.
Jeanne is survived by her husband, Paul; daughters, Marlene (Roger) and Gina; granddaughters, Valerie and Chantal (Sylvain); great-grandsons, Grayson and Parker; brothers, Norman (Gloria) of Yarmouth, Albert of Yarmouth; sister, Linda (Aldebert) of Montreal; numerous nieces and nephews.
Jeanne graduated as a nurse at the Kentville sanitarium and practiced nursing at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital for 10 years. Following her nursing career, Jeanne became office manager for the family business, Roy M. Doucette Boat Builders Ltd. for over 40 years.
Jeanne enjoyed many trips to Cuba with Paul where they made many special friends. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at their favorite resort. Annual gatherings with her sister Linda either in Nova Scotia or Quebec were filled with many adventures and great memories. Over many summers they both enjoyed camping together within the Annapolis County. Jeanne loved spending time in her flower and vegetable gardens. Many hours were spent with her daughter Marlene in the kitchen exploring many cultural dishes.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Meteghan Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held Wednesday, July 31st at 11 in St. Alphonse Church with Rev. Hospice Akoffodji officiating. A reception is to follow in the parish hall.
Special appreciation is extended to medical and nursing professionals at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital along with family who were by her side during the past month.
