Passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family at Seaforth Community Hospital on Saturday, August 12, 2023. Jean Van Altena of Seaforth (formerly of Clinton),in her 91st year. Beloved wife to the late Andy Van Altena. Loving mother of Marilyn (Blair) Van Eyk of Bowmanville, Andy Van Altena of Exeter, and Jurgen (Gayle) Van Altena of Bayfield. Loving Oma of Emily (Paolo), Blaise, Elisha (James), Madison, Kyley (Darren), Kodey (Megan), Korey (Stacey), Chandelle (Brad), Cameron (Jamie), Jaci, Sheridyn (Luke), and her 14 Great Grandchildren. Sister to Dini (Ad Persoons), Willy David, Ria (Jac) Rozijn all of the Netherlands. Predeceased by her brothers, Henk, Joep and Hai Dechnar.
Thank you to Maplewood Manor of Seaforth, where she became a part of their community for the past three years. Special thanks to Tonia and Kathy who Jean felt a unique bond with. Thank you to Seaforth Hospital’s Emergency Department for their care and compassion during her brief stay.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
