September 8, 1925 – January 23, 2024
With deepest sadness we announce the passing of the heart and soul of our family. Predeceased by her husband Errol (2012), survived by and dearly loved Mom to daughter Nancy and son-in-law Bill Watson, Gram to her devoted grandsons Christopher (Janice) and Brian (Christine), Grandma Jean to great-grandson Fletcher, the youngest joy of her life. Fondly remembered by Dr. Anne Watson, and by Owen Heydon. Described as “amazing” by all who knew Mom as she continued to live independently in her own country home, drive her own car, and still bake the best tea biscuits, butter tarts and pies that we’ve ever tasted, and during maple syrup season, be the chief bottler of Sirr’s Syrup. Blessed with visits and phone calls from the Terry and Sirr nieces and nephews, neighbours and friends, all who were such a big part of her life. Mom did love a good phone chat, and a lunch or dinner outing. Respecting her wishes, cremation will be followed by a private family interment in the spring at Morningside Cemetery, Palgrave.
If so desired, memorial donations may be made to the Adjala Firefighters Association, 2821 County Road 50, Loretto, L0G 1L0, where both grandsons have served.
A tree will be planted in memory of Jean in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville. 22nd Annual Dedication Service will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at 2:00 p.m.
