Jean Grey McDonald (nee Ramsey) better known to her family and friends as Sheila, went peacefully to her eternal rest in the very early morning hours of January 26, 2023 at the age of 90. She was predeceased by her husband John and her parents Daniel and Winnifred Ramsey. She leaves behind her daughters Fiona McDonald of Ottawa and Sharon Rigby (Bryan) of Maxville; her grandchildren Shona Fraser (Matt) of Ottawa, Bryce Fraser (Kelly) of Long Sault and Shelby Rigby (Coty) of Maxville. She also leaves behind her brothers Robert of California and Danny (Sandra) who lives in Scotland.
Sheila was born in Scotland in 1932 and emigrated with her husband and daughters to Canada in 1963. She was very proud of her Scottish roots and never lost her lovely Scottish accent. Sheila was an avid knitter from an early age and also enjoyed reading and quilting. She loved dogs and there were a few of them, the last being a Shih Tzu named Zeus who was her best friend until his passing a few years ago. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
A service in celebration of Sheila’s life will take place at a later date in Ottawa with interment at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Maitland. Donations, in lieu of flowers, to the Ottawa Humane Society would be appreciated.
