Jean Pierre «JP» Martel Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Jean Pierre (JP) Martel in the early hours Monday, January 29th, 2024 at Health Sciences North, Sudbury. He was taken too soon at the age of 54. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 23 years, Nicole (Bolduc) Martel, and his cherished daughters Mya and Mackenzie (Michael).
He is survived and missed by his parents Frank and Danielle (Savard) Martel, his brother Rene Martel (Elizabeth) and will be dearly missed by his father in-law Remi (Cecile predeceased), brother in-law Daniel, sister in-laws Carole and Emily, as well as nephews, niece, and oh so many friends and extended family.
JP was an avid outdoorsman that enjoyed fishing, hunting and especially loved his annual canoe trips with “the guys”. You could often find him around the poker table on Thursdays along with his homemade craft beer that he enjoyed making from the hops he grew in his back yard… that everyone enjoyed drinking. Aside from his family, he had another source of pride and joy and that being the cottage that he and his wife built with their own hands (along with help from so many of his friends and family).
He was a down to earth guy with quite the sense of humor. He could always be depended on to lend a hand to anyone that needed help. Hold dear to those memories that you all have made with him as he is sitting around the fire looking down on you holding a beer saying cheers.
He will be missed by many and was loved by all. Rest easy JP!
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the paramedics of the North Bay Ambulance Services. doctors and nurses at the North Bay Regional Health Centre and Health Sciences North in Sudbury for all of their efforts.
As per JP’s wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will be receiving visitors Saturday, February 10th, 2024 from 2-4pm at McGunity’s funeral home in North Bay.
