With great sadness, the family announces the death of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother at the Village of Humber Heights, Etobicoke, Ont. Teachers’ College sweetheart and loving wife of Bill (deceased 2018) for 69 years. Daughter of the late Earl Risebrough and Gladys Hamill Risebrough. Sister of Bruce Risebrough (deceased), Helen Praskey (deceased), Eleanor Fry, and Shirley Shier. Jean was close to her three daughters – Susan (Don) Koruna, Huntsville, Ont.; Sally (Cyril, deceased) Praskey, Toronto; Tammy (Scott) Boyling, Toronto – as well as her two grandchildren, Julie (Denis) Koruna, Keswick, Ont.; and Kristi (Philippe) Koruna, Sydney, Australia. “GG” to great-grandchildren Kylie and Ryan Beaulieu, Keswick.
Jean was raised on a farm in Milliken, Ont. A natural athlete, she played many sports growing up, and later in life took up golf, reconnecting with three high school friends to form a formidable foursome. She enjoyed many travels with Bill, as well as with Sally to watch figure-skating events worldwide. She was a talented seamstress who made many clothes and costumes for her daughters.
Jean was known for her devotion to family and friends, love of animals (especially Holstein cows, horses, and cats!), and her iron will.
The family thanks the staff of Williamsburg neighbourhood, Village of Humber Heights, for their kindness and compassion.
Cremation has taken place. Private interment at a later date. Memorial donations gratefully accepted at Terry Fox Foundation, Canadian Wildlife Federation, or a charity of your choice.
