June 9, 2023
passed away peacefully at Joseph Brant hospital in Burlington on Friday June 9th just eight weeks after the passing of her beloved husband Ron. Predeceased by her parents Sam and Hilda Penrice and her brother John. Jean will be forever missed by her daughters Debbie (Paul) Mortimer and Denise (Brian) Sorensen. Proud Grandmother to Lindsey (Dave), Brian, Carter, Emma, and Sarah. Beloved sister to Doug (Dianne) Penrice and sister-in-law to Helen (Gary) Kirby.
Jean was a long-time member of St. Christophers church and was an active volunteer in Burlington as well as Marco Island, Fl. Born in 1940 in the Isle of Man, Jean was proud of her Manx heritage and returned to her beloved island on several occasions. Having grown up in Georgetown, Jean was a member of the Georgetown girls pipe-band, where she was a drummer. In 1971 Jean and Ron moved to Burlington. Always the entrepreneur Jean with her husband Ron owned several businesses, including the Burlington Bus Terminal and later Ron’s namesake RG Transportation. Jean had a love of travel and was fortunate to travel extensively with her husband Ron. When not travelling Jean could often be found at the RBG having lunch with Ron. But Jeans real love was her family and would often brag about her grandchildren to anyone who would listen. She will always be remembered for her kindness to others and maybe her pink hair.
Friends will be received at St. Christopher’s Church 662 Guelph Line, Burlington, Monday June 19th, 2023, at 10 a.m., funeral to follow at 11 a.m.
In Lieu of flowers donation to Joseph Brant Hospital or the RBG would be appreciated.
And in all my times of sorrows
And onsome lonely shore
