Janet passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at Headwaters Health Care Centre in Orangeville. Beloved wife of 40 years to Ronald. Loving mother of Harrison, Emily and Jordan (Bex). Dear sister of Patricia Cockell (Dean), Bernice Tracey (late Keith), Joanne Walker (Richard), Chuck Doherty (Marg), and Bill Doherty (Sigrid) and aunt to many cherished nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Noreen and Edgar Doherty. Lovingly remembered by Ron’s brothers and sister. Predeceased by Ron’s parents Donna and Douglas Banks.
Janet will be remembered for her wonderful laugh and generous spirit. Family was always her greatest priority. Even in her creative endeavors, such as baking, sewing or knitting, it was often in service of others. She worked as an administrative assistant for many years, where her keen organizational skills and comforting presence were a blessing to all.
Memorial service will be held at Compass Community Church 246289 Hockley Rd. Mono on Wednesday November 22, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. with visitation will begining at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to World Vision Canada (www.worldvision.ca) or Compass Community Church (www.thisiscompass.com) would be appreciated. Messages of condolence can be left for Janet’s family at www.dodsandmcnair.com
A tree will be planted in memory of Janet in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville. 22nd Annual Dedication Service will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at 2:00 p.m.
