Remembering James
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of James William Toole, at age 54 on March 25, 2023, after a long courageous battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
Left to mourn is his partner and soulmate, Debbie Hoyt, who gave him the best years of his life. Along with her adult children, Justin, Scott, Trevor, and Carrie and granddaughters, Dali, Sadie, and Averie.
His siblings Kelly (Donna) Toole and Glenda (John) Cameron, along with his stepdad Alan MacKay; his aunts, Joan Stevens and Linda (Dave) Reardon as well as nieces Caley, Caitlyn, and Morgan and his nephew Patrick and many aunts, uncles, and cousins on the Toole side.
James was predeceased by both his parents Helen Toole (nee Stevens) and Gordon Toole along with his beloved brother, Paul.
James was born and raised in Bible Hill but made his home in Balmoral as a young adult. He loved his little home in the country only venturing to town for work or the occasional Timmies coffee or into Tatamagouche with Debbie to pass the time “people watching”. He was a true lover of the quiet country life and enjoyed all the nature that surrounded him. He was lucky to have found such a wonderful, strong companion in Debbie who took on the task of caregiver at the end of life by honouring James’ wishes to pass at home. The family would like to extend their appreciation to Debbie and the staff of the Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital, as well as Dr. Bush, for their kindness and caring right until the end. We would also like to express appreciation to Alan for the many miles he put between Truro and Halifax making sure James always had a ride to his appointments and treatments in the city. The companionship on those trips I’m sure helped to ease the stress of the cancer treatments somewhat. Blessed are we to have known the quiet strength of this man. As James leaves this earthly realm, he takes a piece of all our hearts with him. Rest in Peace.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Coulter’s Funeral Home in Tatamagouche. Honouring James’ wishes there will not be a service. We simply ask all who knew him to quietly remember him and smile at the memory.
