James Rodney Elton
May 19,1936 – May 24,2024
James Elton was born in Worthing England in 1936. Predeceased by his wife Phae Annabel Elton and his daughter Susan Lauren Elton. Survived by his son Leslie James Elton, his two children, grandson Michael Jade Elton and granddaughter Christina Phae Elton.
James was raised in Richmond BC where he became a King Scout. Under his father’s guidance, he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy and supervised helicopter repairs. James was stationed in Dartmouth Nova Scotia, Cold Lake Alberta and in Patricia Bay, Victoria BC. He retired from the Royal Canadian Navy after 25 years. James later completed a finance course at Capilano College and worked as a stockbroker, managing numerous clients until his retirement in the early 2000s.
From an early age, James honed his artistic skills and later shared his knowledge by teaching fellow painters at the West Vancouver Senior Centre. James’ father always said that you will never be able to support yourself by being an artist.
James Elton’s masonic career started in Cold Lake Alberta 1974, Astra Lodge 179. After moving a number of times back and forth across Canada. James family settled in North Vancouver where he joined King David Lodge 93 and became their Worshipful Master in 1984. In subsequent years, James became a member of various Masonic organizations, including the Royal Arch Masons of North Vancouver King Solomon 16, the Gezih Shriners, and the Cryptic Rite, among others.

James Elton’s Celebration of life will be held at North Lonsdale United Church, in North Vancouver at 1:00pm on June 28th. 3380 Lonsdale Ave, North Vancouver, BC V7N 3K2
