Donnison,
James Robert «Jimmy», age 45, Lower South River, Nova
Scotia, passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at St.
Martha’s Regional Hospital
Antigonish.
Born in
Sydney, NS, he was the son of James and Theresa (McCormick)
Donnison.
In his high
school days, he was an avid athlete playing both hockey and
baseball. He loved the Edmonton Oilers, listening to music
and soaking up the sun by the water.
After high
school, he made his way to Alberta, where he worked hard and took
pride in bestowing himself and his loved ones with everything they
desired and did so until 2018, when he came home to begin his almost
6-year battle with Glioblastoma. It was also during this time he met
his angel on earth Alicia and, being the warrior he was, together they
bravely fought the battle.
Besides his
parents, he is survived by his wife, Alicia Foster; children, Cohen,
Ben, and Lila Donnison, all of Alberta; sisters, Tammy Donnison,
British Columbia; and Kelly Donnison; Ontario; and niece and nephew,
Connor and Ciara. Jimmy also had the love and support of his extended
family – parents-in-law, Steve and Ruth Foster;
sisters-in-law, Tara (Joey) and Amanda (Tremaine); nieces and nephews,
Lilly, Teagan, Zoe, Emma, Emmett, Maci, and Tristan. He is also
survived by his special grandparents Charlie and Julia Teasdale, his
«Grande Prairie parents» Gerry and Marie MacIsaac and many
aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Honorable mention should also be
made to his canine companion, Rocky.
We, the
family, would like to send our sincere gratitude to all of the medical
staff from Alberta to Nova Scotia who gave Jimmy the most invested
care.
Cremation has
taken place with no public visitation at this
time.
Memorial
Donations may be made to Cathy’s Place (St.
Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish) or the Tom MacNeil
Cancer Patient Care Fund (Cape Breton Regional Hospital,
Sydney).
