With broken hearts we announce the passing of our beloved brother, uncle and friend, James Robert “Bob” Halloran on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, at the age of 81.
Bob was born March 13, 1942, to the late Ben and Greta (Blakeburn) Halloran.
He was a life-long resident of Ashby and for over 30 years was employed as controller for the City of Sydney.
Bob is survived by his brother, Earl, Dawson Creek, BC; sisters, Rose Buchanan, Sydney and Donna Kirby (Phil), Durham, NS; and numerous nieces and nephews. He had a special bond with his nieces, Lorna (Kenny) Krszwda and Patricia (Kevin) Porter and nephews, Kerry (Darlene) MacDonald, Craig (Kelly) Kirby and Ryan (Heidi) Kirby. Bob is also survived by his great friend, Rick Farmer. For the past several months, his nephew, Kerry (Darlene) and great-nephew, Jordan provided him excellent care.
In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his sister, Carol Joseph and brothers, Charlie, Jim and Roy.
Bob was kind, funny, caring and giving to his family, friends and anyone he met. He will be missed.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Sunday, January 21st from 4-7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Theresa’s Church on Monday, January 22nd at 10 a.m. with Rev. Evo DiPierro officiating. Interment will take place in Resurrection Cemetery. For those unable to attend, the service will be live-streamed on the Sydney Memorial Chapel Facebook page.
