Peacefully passed at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre on Thursday, May 16th, 2024, at the age of 78. Beloved husband of Jane (née Worton) for 57 years. Loving father of Paul (Lori), Dean (Jodie) and Ann (Sean). Proud grandfather of Aidan, Andrew, Olivia, Evelyn, Jill, Sophie, Maggie, and Cole. Predeceased by his sister Sallie. Will be missed by many extended family members and dear friends.
McGill cherished his family and fought bravely for eight years through cancer and other illnesses so that he could spend time with them. He was a kind and generous person that always put the needs of others, especially his family, before his own.
His family would like to thank the staff at Royal Victoria Hospital for the kindness and care that they provided over the course of McGill’s illness. A special thank you to Dr. Erika Catford and Dr. Lauren Gerard who fought alongside McGill every step of the way. McGill was fortunate to have been in their care.
A Celebration of Life will take place at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Saturday, June 1st, 2024, from 1-3 pm. Words of Remembrance by the family will take place at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in McGill’s memory may be made to the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre designated to the Hudson Regional Cancer Program and would be greatly appreciated by the family.
