Passed peacefully away at Carbonear General Hospital on November 1, 2024, in the presence of his loving family, James «Jim» Durnford at the age of 77 years.
Predeceased by parents: James and Annie Durnford; parents-in-law: Frances and Catherine Ryan; brother-in-law: Kevin and Shirley Ryan.
Left with precious memories are his loving wife and best friend of 49 years, Mary; brothers: Rick (Helen), Philip (Phoebe), Bill (Colleen), Roger (Pam), Dana, and Mark (Teri-deceased); sisters: Olive (Al Moraze), Stephanie (Gary Byrne), and Jayne (Gus Gosse); brother-in-law: Gerald Ryan (Phyllis); sister-in-law: Loretta Sullivan (Harold – deceased), Rosemary Fahey (Tim – deceased), Sheila Ryan Hachey (Gene); also a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Thanks to the staff of the 7th floor for their care and attention during the past ten months, as well as the staff of the 6th floor for their care during his brief stay.
To honor Jim’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or funeral service at this time. Interment at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations in his memory may be made to Baccalieu S. P. C. A. at baccalieutrailspca.net/donate or charity of one’s choice.
