Russell, James «Jim» Robert – Tatamagouche
February 12, 1953 – July 16, 2023
It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of James «Jim» Robert Russell, Age 70, of Tatamagouche, NS on Sunday, July 16th, 2023.
Son of the late Otis “Archie» and Marguerite Russell, Jim followed in his father’s footsteps with N.S. Power, where he retired after 45 years of service in 2018. Jim would return to work, where he spent the following five years with K-Line Construction out of Woodstock, N.B. Jim loved his job, and he loved all of the guys and gals he worked alongside. Jim was the only person that got excited when a storm was coming, we would find him sitting and waiting for the phone to ring to be called into work.
Jim was a 20 Year volunteer member of the Tatamagouche Fire Dept. He loved golfing, curling, coaching hockey when Jeremy was little, and the hunting camp at Clear Lake. We always joked that we never knew why his gun needed to be cleaned yearly and taken to the camp, as we knew his favorite part was spending time with Roland, Bill and Jeremy. Jim’s largest and most cherished accomplishment in life were his kids, Trudy and Jeremy. He loved driving them to hockey, back and forth to their friends, and following what each of them were doing. He was proud beyond words of them both.
Jim is survived by Marilyn (MacMillan), his loving wife of 41 years; daughter Trudy, (Tristan) Dyer, Upper Tantallon and son, Jeremy (Kendra) Russell, Earltown and Grampie’s princesses, Paisley and Brielle Russell; Fur Babies, Smokey and Sadie; brother, Roland (Ruth) Russell, Lower Harmony; sisters, Selina (Steve) Redden, Stillwater Lake and Valerie (James) Kennedy, Geraldton, Ontario. As well as many sisters, brothers in law, nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Visitation to be held Friday, July 21st in Coulters Funeral Home, Tatamagouche from 6:30-8:30pm with a Celebration of Life, Saturday, July 22nd 2-4pm at the Tatamagouche Fire Hall, Church Street. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Tatamagouche Volunteer Fire Department, 202 Main St. Tatamagouche, NS, B0K 1V0.
Arrangements are under the direction of Coulter’s Funeral Home, Tatamagouche.
