Jim Smith, age 75, of Sebringville, passed away peacefully at Rotary Hospice Stratford Perth on Saturday, December 31, 2022. Jim is survived by his wife Elizabeth (Liz) Jean (Marshall) Smith. Jim is the proud father of April (Chris), Aaron (Jen), Nathan and Rachel. He is the cherished grandpa to Jakob, Olivia, Gabriel, Summer, Tyson and Sophie. He is also survived by his siblings, Douglas Smith, Marilyn Jackson and Susan Mavity, and many brother and sister in-laws, nephews and nieces. Jim was predeceased by his son Jimmy, parents William and Maude Smith, and brother Tom.
Jim was very proud of Smith Electric, the business that he built with his brother Doug and through which he met many of his lifelong friends. He was a member of Riverside Christian Fellowship church. He enjoyed spending time at his cottage in Southampton with his children and grandchildren.
Jim’s family would like express their gratitude to the staff at University Hospital-London Health Sciences Centre, the London Regional Cancer Centre, Stratford General Hospital, Rotary Hospice Stratford Perth, and Dr. Peter Brooks.
Friends and relatives are invited to W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron St. Stratford on Friday, January 6th for a visitation from 6pm-9pm. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, January 7th at 3pm followed by a reception and refreshments in the funeral home reception centre.
