Our beloved Jim of Windsor, Ontario, age 92, has passed away into the arms of his loving Saviour on December 3rd, 2023 at Hotel-Dieu Grace Hospice.
Jim was born in Kilwinning, Sask. In 1931, son of the late Clifford and Della Keddy. He and his family moved to Montreal in 1937. Jim and his family moved to London, Ont. In 1969, Es in 1975, and lastly Windsor in 1983. Jim was employed by CN Railway for 41 years, retiring in 1990. In his career with the railroad he held many positions, fireman, engineer, trainman, and for the last 15 years as a conductor on the Windsor to Toronto run where his friendliness and care became well known by many passengers.
Jim loved to travel with his wife Carol, often visiting family. Jim had many interests including chess, baseball (Detroit Tigers Fan), tennis (He played doubles tennis into his mid 80’s), reading biographies and newspapers. He was also very involved in politics including being campaign Manager / Area Coordinator in Windsor, Sarnia, Es, and Chatham. Jim volunteered with Retired Seniors Volunteer Program, driving seniors to appointments. He contributed on the Victims of Crime Committee. He was very involved in his church and community.
Jim is survived by his devoted wife of 40 years Carol nee. Trimble. Loving father of daughters Kathy Pennington (Charles), Myrna Bustard (John), Nancy Wright (Bob) and daughter-in-law Susan Keddy. Predeceased by his son James Keddy Jr. (2005). He is loved by his grandchildren Curtis Keddy (Amy), Christopher Keddy (Alison), Bethany Hambrey (Jason), James Bustard (Meghan), Emily Hansen (Matt), Nathaniel Wright (Melanie), Stephen Wright (Hannah), Brock Wright (Kirsten), Zachary Wright (Alyssa), and Brittany Nardone (Paul). Jim was proud to be a great grandfather to 15 great grandchildren.
Predeceased by his brother Robert Keddy and sisters Carol Simunic (Emil), Sandra Lindsay (Doug). Survived by his sister-in-law Eva Keddy married to Robert.
Jim will be missed by many nieces and nephews in the Keddy, Simunic, and Lindsay families as well as many friends.
We would like to thank Jim’s primary and most favourite caregiver, his wife Carol, The Doctors and Nurses of Palliative Care Unit and especially Denise, Alzheimer’s Day Break Program, and PSW’s.
If you so desire, donations to South Windsor Salvation Army or Hotel- Dieu Grace Palliative Care Unit would be appreciated by the family.
On Thursday December 7, 2023, Visitation from 3 – 5 pm and 7 – 9 pm at Families First, 3260 Dougall Ave., South Windsor, 519-969-5841. Visitation will continue on December 8th, 2023 from 9am until a funeral service at 10am. Procession to Cottam Cemetery for burial following the service.
