James Bernard Marshall, passed peacefully away in St. John’s, NL on June 24, 2024 at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 78 years.
Predeceased by his parents: Harold & Mae; brothers: Calvin (Rowena), Ben, Russell (Marlene); sisters: Myrtle (Paul Barr), Vida McMillan.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife: Carolyn (nee LeGrow); sisters: Florence Marshall, Helene Drodge; sons: David and Peter (daughter-in-law Tina); grandchildren: Violet, Madison, Jacob, Luke, and Megan; brother-in-law: Bruce LeGrow (Muriel) and their family. As well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Jim spent 54 years with Canadian Tire in Newfoundland. He operated stores in Port Aux Basques, Gander, and St. John’s from 1980 through 2017. He was a man respected by the many staff and associates through the years.
He enjoyed playing guitar and singing, an occasional good cigar and a “wee dram of Scotch!”. He loved spending time with family, golfing, the cottage, and travelling with his life-long soulmate, Carolyn.
Visitation will be held at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue St. John’s on Thursday, June 27 from 2:00-5:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm. Funeral service will be held in Barrett’s Chapel on Friday, June 28 at 1:00pm. Interment to follow at Blackhead, Conception Bay North United Cemetery at 4:00pm.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Salvation Army.
