Jake Vautour passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2023 at his home in Cambridge at the age of 20.
Loving son of Jenn Rahn Vautour (Adam Stewart) and Matt Vautour (Kristine Reed). Dear brother of Logan Vautour. Cherished grandson of Rick Rahn. Jake will be missed by Jesse and Ryan Stewart, and his many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Jake was predeceased by his grandmothers Marty Myerscough, Jill Kolaritsch and grandfather Vern Vautour.
Jake was energetic, honest and most of all, fearless. Jake loved sports, video games, fishing, spending time with his Grandma and Papa at the cottage, and his brother, Logan. Jake was a natural athlete (and maybe even a wee bit competitive), having played on various sports teams: high-school football, ball hockey, baseball, volleyball, wrestling and lacrosse, but his favourite sport was hockey. Having played A and AAA hockey for both Hespeler and Cambridge Minor Hockey Associations, he was known for his passion, skill and love for the penalty box.
Jake was a kind hearted, generous, handsome young man with an amazing smile but what he tried to hide from most was his substance use disorder and the devastating toll it took on him and those who cared deeply for him. Tragically, it resulted in his death due to an accidental overdose. What we do know, is if love and support alone could have saved Jake, he would still be with us today.
A Celebration of Life for Jake will be held at the Hespeler Legion, 26 Schofield St., Cambridge on Sunday February 5, 2023 between 1-4pm. Words of remembrance will be spoken at 2:00pm.The family welcomes stories and/or photos of Jake to be shared on that day.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Jake’s honour can be made to Porchlight Counselling & Addictions Services, Cambridge or OneROOF Youth Services, Kitchener.
