J. Patrick «Pat» Murphy – 77,
Portapique. It is with great sadness that we announce Pat’s
passing on Friday, February 16, 2024, at Colchester East Hants Health
Centre, Truro, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Halifax, he
was the son of the late Reg and Lillian (Parsons)
Murphy.
As a young man he joined the Canadian Armed Forces and was a
member of the Black Watch. After his service, Pat spent many years in
automotive equipment sales. In 1993, he and his wife Carla established
their own business, CP Agencies. They enjoyed running the business
together and had 25 years of success.
Together they enjoyed traveling the Caribbean, most
especially Cuba. Upon retirement they enjoyed living at their property
on the Cobequid Bay. Pat enjoyed puttering in his garage and spending
time with family.
Pat is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carla (Crowell);
children, Shawna Boudreau (Steve), Steven Murphy; grandchildren, Jamie
Boudreau (Marie), Sarah Boudreau (Arianne), Megan Barnett (Ryan),
Madison Murphy (Jonah), Matthew Murphy; great granddaughter, Charlotte
Jo; siblings, Gerald (Gail), John (Lynn), Marie (Brian), Cathy (Bill),
Margie (Sam), David (Martina), Lily, Timmy and extended
family.
Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter,
Patty Ann; sister, Mary Ann; brothers, Frankie, Robert.
Special thanks are extended to the nurses on the Palliative
Care Unit at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Outpatient
Palliative Care nurses Angela and Mary and the VON for their
exceptional care and support. Also special thanks to Dr. Rowe, Dr.
Henderson, Dr. Smith, NP Erika Baird and Dr. MacNeil.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where a Legion Tribute
Service will be held 7 p.m., Sunday, February 25, 2024. A celebration
of life will be held in the Spring and interment at a later date in
Robie Street Cemetery, 125 Robie Street, Truro. Tributes, words of
