Obituary
Wickens, Ivan Ashley – 84, of Woods Harbour, passed away on November 4, 2023 at his residence. Born in Bear Point on March 10, 1939. Ivan was the eldest son of the late Earle and Estella (Smith) Wickens.
Ivan worked in the fishing industry until his retirement. He was a deacon of the Central Woods Harbour Baptist Church. Ivan was an avid Montreal Canadiens and Boston Red Sox fan. He enjoyed playing many sports including hockey, baseball, golf and curling. Ivan also enjoyed hunting, camping and going to his cottage in Clyde River.
Ivan is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Sharon (Nickerson) Wickens, his beloved daughter, Valerie (Manual) Symonds of Bear Point; his precious grandchildren, Daniel and Lauren (Morgan); brothers, Russell (Anne) and Stanley; sisters, Priscilla (Clarence), Nancy (John), Marjorie (Horton), Eleanor (Gene) and Brenda (Carl); many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Ivan was predeceased by his brother, Vernon (Debbie).
Ivan cherished all of his family unconditionally and he loved spending time and making memories with them.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 10th at 2pm from the H.M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, Barrington. Donations may be made to the Central Woods Harbour Baptist Church or charity of choice.
