MAHER, Irma – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Irma Maher, surrounded by her beloved family on Tuesday, November 7, 2023. Irma is survived by her devoted husband of four years, Nigel Maher, and was predeceased by her first husband, Robert Kentie. Mother to Joy McEwen (Matthew), Laura Warner (Andrew), and David Kentie (Ashley). Irma embraced her role as a step-mother to Ben Maher (Alexis), Kerry Shaffer (Matthew), and Meghan Elgersma (Charlie). Her love extended to 13 grandchildren and step-grandchildren who held a special place in her heart. Born to Agatha Goertzen, Irma was predeceased by her father, Ben Goertzen. Sister to, Ervin Goertzen (Doris), Alvin Goertzen (Raquel), Esther Goertzen, and Lorna Stickland (Wesley). She was also predeceased by her sister, Eva Goertzen. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at the H.L. Cudney Funeral Home, 241 West Main Street, Welland on Friday, November 10th, with visitation hours from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. A celebration of Irma’s life will be held at Rice Road Community Church, 305 Rice Road, Welland on Saturday, November 11th at 11 a.m. Online condolences available at www.cudneyfuneralhome.com
