Martin, Irene (Frey)
Surrounded by the love of her family, Irene went to be with her Lord on Sunday, June 16, 2024 at Listowel Memorial Hospital at the age of 92 years.
Beloved mother to Richard of Wellesley, Diane and Maynard Bauman of Listowel, Harold and Lynn of Wellesley, Robert and Heather of New Dundee, and Bruce and Pam of Waterloo. Loved and remembered by 15 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. Survived by sisters Lovina Martin (the late Delber), Susanna Brubacher (the late Eugene) and Martha Brubacher (the late Orvie). Will be missed by many nieces, nephews and their families.
Predeceased by her parents Tilman and Susanna (Weber) Frey, husband Ephraim, brothers Henry (Eileen) and Aden (Leona) Frey, and sister Minerva (Lloyd) Clemmer.
Grandma’s face would never fail to light up with joy with the visit of a grandchild or great-grandchild. Her heart had so much love for the little ones! Irene showed care for all those around her with a kind smile and an eager listening ear. She enjoyed spending time quilting, cross-stitching and caring for her plants and flowers. Her kind and generous spirit will be missed and always remembered.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira.
A brief viewing and graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at Montrose Mennonite Cemetery, 6101 Middlebrook Rd., West Montrose. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at Elmira Mennonite Church, 58 Church St. W., Elmira. Reception will be held in the church basement following the service.
Donations in Irene’s memory to MCC or Christian Aid Ministries would be appreciated, and may be made through the funeral home.
