SAINT-LOUIS-DE-KENT, NB
– Irène Gigou, 78, of Saint-Louis-de-Kent, passed
away peacefully at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital
Center on Thursday, October 24, 2024. Born in Petit-Large, NB, she was
the daughter of the late Maurice Cormier and the late Bernadette
(Daigle) Cormier. Before retiring, she worked as an accountant for
independent businesses.
Irène was an
exceptionally talented seamstress who crafted beautiful clothing. With
her artistic eye, she brought beauty to everything she touched,
particularly her Christmas decorations. Her cross-stitch works were
worthy of an exhibition. Guests at her table greatly appreciated her
cooking skills, which she passed on to her sons and
granddaughter.
Irène will
forever be remembered by her loving husband of 56 years, Jean-Louis
Gigou of St. Louis; her two sons, Jean-Marc Gigou (late Amy) of St.
Ignace and Philippe Gigou of St. Louis; and her precious
granddaughter, Ashley Gigou (Bernie).
She will
also be sadly missed by her sister, Aline Vautour-Siddall of Rexton;
her two brothers, Armand Cormier (Lise) of St. Ignace and Vincent
Cormier of Edmonton, AB; three sisters-in-law, Lise, Rose-Marie and
Lorraine; brother-in-law, Sylvio (Lorraine); as well as by many
nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins – all from the
Daigle, Cormier, Gigou, and Richard families. Her card-playing friends
will miss her dearly.
Following
Irène’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at 3:00
p.m., at the Saint-Louis-des-Français Roman Catholic Church
in Saint-Louis-de-Kent.
