Viola Cormier (née Bastarache), 84, of Moncton passed away peacefully on Friday December 30, 2022 at the Moncton Hospital with her family by her side. Born in Moncton, NB, on January 22, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Ambrose and Dorilla (Saulnier) Bastarache.
She met Raymond after having worked in Montreal for Northern Electric. They moved to Leominster, MA in 1961. They would have three children before returning to Canada in 1972. Viola was instrumental in the success of the family business which included the painting company as well as various real estate holdings.
She was a member and long-time volunteer at the Beausejour Curling Club. Her generosity, caring nature and positive outlook on life made it easy for people to be drown towards her. After raising her children, she took up curling and golf, which she enjoyed immensely. She also enjoyed travelling with her family and friends.
Viola will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 60 years; Raymond; her sons: Raymond Jr (Allison), Andy (Rhonda); her daughter: Diane (Danny); her sister: Muriel Melanson; also by her 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers: Andy, Ronnie and Ovide; her sisters: Doreen Goguen, Aurella Griffin and Bernice LeBlanc.
Visitation will be held at Passage-Chartersville, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, NB E1A 1G1 (506) 857.1901, on Friday, January 6, 2023 from 4pm until time of funeral chapel at 7pm.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Alzheimer Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of your choice.
