It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Louis E. LeBlanc, resident of Saint-Anselme/Dieppe and husband of Maria (Barrieau) LeBlanc for 64 years. He was 94 years old and passed away peacefully on November 21, 2024 after a short illness. Born on June 4, 1930, in Fox Creek, he was the son of the late Léonide and Laura LeBlanc.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children Jacques (Bernice), Claire, Daniel (Vanessa) and André; eight grandchildren Dominique, Marie-Lise, Geneviève, Alexandre, Adrian, Gabriel, Xavier and Annabel; and six great-grandchildren. He also leaves his extended LeBlanc and his wife’s Barrieau families, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his three sisters, Laure, Augusta and Maria, and his two brothers, Jean-Charles and Paul.
Louis graduated from Collège Saint-Joseph, where he was recruited as a tenor in the choir of the late Père Léandre Brault. He pursued a career as a meteorological technician in Quebec’s far north, then as an air traffic controller and later as control tower chief at the Moncton airport.
His commitment to his community included many years as a councillor of the former Village of Saint-Anselme and as founding president of Saint-Anselme Minor Hockey. A proud Acadian, he collaborated on numerous projects related to his parish and city’s history, and on family genealogy.
Above all, Louis was blessed with the gifts of kindness, generosity and great storytelling. He loved music, choir singing and making those around him laugh. He will be dearly missed.
Visitations will be held at Passage-Chartersville (363, rue Amirault, Dieppe, NB) on Friday, November 29, 2024, from 4 to 6 p.m., and on Saturday, November 30, 2024 from 9:45 to 10:15. The funeral service will take place at Saint-Anselme Church on Saturday, November 30, at 11 a.m.
Donations in Louis’ memory may be made to the House of Nazareth in Moncton.
