Hervé (Harvey) Léger, 79, passed away peacefully Friday April 7th, 2023, surrounded by his family at the Dr-Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre in Moncton.
Hervé grew up in Barachois, NB, and was the son of the late Jean-Baptiste and Édith Léger (Léger).
Hervé was a graduate of Collège Saint-Joseph in Memramcook and worked for many years as a real estate agent and appraiser. He was a loving and devoted grandfather. In his later years his grandson Théo was his greatest joy. They were inseparable and had many good times together. They could always be spotted together on Saturdays at the Dieppe farmer’s market and at local events. Harvey would often make it his mission to have Théo’s picture in the newspaper. Hervé had a long-time passion for politics and could always be counted on to give a helping hand during election time. Théo and his grandfather put up many political signs together during numerous elections, and often met with political personalities. Hervé also loved spending time in his garage and watching shows like The Price is Right, Séraphin, Question Period and Power Play.
The family wants to send its heartfelt appreciation to the nurses, doctors, and personnel of the CHU Dumont for their humanity, and the extraordinary care offered to Hervé during his stay. Deepest thanks in particular to Dr Sébastien Robichaud, and the nurses Catherine, Patrick, and Renée of the Intensive Care unit.
Hervé leaves behind his wife Claudette Léger (Bourque), his two daughters Marie-Josée Léger (George) and Miguelle Léger (Stefan), his grandson Théo, his two sisters Yvette and Alfreda (feu Aimé), as well as a great number of nephews and nieces.
Besides his parents, Hervé was predeceased by his two sisters Lina and Dorilla as well as his two brothers Yvon and Elphège.
The family will receive condolences at the Passage Funeral Cooperative-Chartersville, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, NB Friday April 14th 2023 from 1:00-3:00 pm, up until the time of the funeral at 3:00 pm. A light lunch will be served afterwards at 4:00 pm.
In memory of Hervé, a donation can be made to the CHU Dumont Foundation (oncology).
