Her name is Inez. Not Ee-nez. Wearing her Sunday best on June 9, 2024, Inez Editha Grant (Forbes) travelled home to be embraced by her heavenly Father.
Inez’s first homes were in Clarendon and Kingston Jamaica. As a young adult, she braved a move to England where she met her husband George Barrington Grant (whom she lovingly called B) and became a mother to her two children, Anthony and Sonya.
Upon immigrating to Canada, Inez took great pride in her career at the University of Toronto’s botany geology and biology labs. Her dedicated green thumb nourished countless futures, especially those of her children.
Inez had three impressive collections which she cultivated over her [redacted!] years: Royal Doulton ladies, fancy paper towels, and beautiful friendships. Inez was popular for her wit, her faith, and her generosity. Her phone was scarcely silent or her sitting room empty as friends and family loved to share laughter and prayers and sometimes tears together.
The memory of her life is cherished by her brother Selvin Smart, beloved two children Anthony Grant (Debbie) and Sonya Sykes, five grandchildren Ashleigh Grant, Alyssa Grant, Emese Graham, Lennon Sykes, and Sabannah Grant, great grandson Jameson Willows, and dozens of loved ones who called her honorary mother, grandmother, and aunty. Inez is predeceased by her husband of 60 years and brother Hoyt Forbes
Visitation will take place Friday June 21 from 11-1 at Calvary Church 127 Hespeler Rd, Cambridge ON N1R3G9, where service will follow at 1p.m.. Interment will be held after mass at Memory Gardens 2723 Victoria St N, Breslau ON N0B1M0.
