Eva was born in Hungary, the youngest of three children. She had a love of gymnastics, and was a member of the Hungarian National team. She would have competed in the 1944 Olympics, but missed her opportunity when the games were cancelled due to the war.
In 1948, Eva immigrated to Canada with her sister, bringing only some clothes, photographs, and her gymnastics medals. She learned to speak English by going to the movies.
Eva married Attila (‘Albert”) Kun in 1951. They farmed tobacco in Tillsonburg for a few years and then moved to Toronto. They eventually bought land on Kennisis Lake and built a magnificent three-storey cottage where the family enjoyed many happy summers. From Toronto, they moved to Queensville, and then Keswick. Albert died in 2009 and Eva settled in Cobourg to be closer to family.
Eva was a devout Christian who loved all animals and was a talented cook, baker, and gardener. She is loving remembered by her granddaughter, Amanda Grant, and Amanda’s family.
