With deep sadness we announce the passing of Ida Maria
Whilemina Vermeer (van Oirschot), at home, surrounded by her loving
family, on Dec 30, 2024.
Ida was born in Boxtel Netherlands on April 12, 1928. She
trained as a seamstress in Holland and designed many wedding dresses
throughout her life – including her own. In 1953 she married
Jan (John) Vermeer and immigrated to Nova Scotia, Canada. They settled
in Lanark and later moved to Pleasant Valley. She was the epitome of a
loving mother; farming, raising her children, working in her garden,
sewing clothing for everyone, and making delicious bread. She loved
her family dinners, especially the sound of all the children laughing.
She instilled the values of kindness, respect, and consistency in all
her children.
Ida volunteered as a 4-H sewing leader and produced a
multitude of crafts for family, friends and charity events. Her strong
faith in God was reflected in how she lived her life. She was the
guiding force of the family and inspired those around her to be the
best they can be.
She was predeceased by her husband Jan (John), son Peter, as
well as her siblings Joe van Oirschot, Wim (Sjaan) van Oirschot, Anne
(Frans) van Rooy, and Frans van Oirschot.
Ida is survived by her children Anne Marie (Cleve) Pryde,
Michael (Susan), Cathy (Jim) Hart, Helma (Steve) MacDonald, John
(Suzanne), Margie (Glen) Woloschuk, and Joanne (Paul) Hughes, as well
as her sisters in law Annie and Mien van Oirschot. She is also
survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and
nephews.

Friday, January 3rd from 3-5 with funeral
Saturday, January 4th at 11:00 am. In Lieu of
