Fred Hutchinson passed away peacefully at the Meaford Hospital with family by his side on Friday, September 1st, 2023 in his 87th year.
Born in Euphrasia Township on September 30, 1936, he was a son of the late Tressa Jane (nee Lee) and Wesley Clifford Hutchinson.
Fred will be missed by his beloved wife of more than 61 years, Lillian (nee Holroyd) Hutchinson.
He was the kind and patient father of David Hutchinson (Donna-Lynn) and Joan Rideout. Fred was the wonderful grandpa of Anthony, Danieca, Graham, Dwayne, Scott, Sarah and Neil, and great grandpa of Dameon, Jager, Brock, Annabella, Haley and Lily.
He was the dear brother of Herb Hutchinson (Darlene), and was predeceased by his siblings John Hutchinson (late Rita), Mabel (late John Kaminsky), Mary Jane (late Tom Merrifield), Lorraine Metcalf, Luella (late Art Bastell), Jim Hutchinson (late Inez), Don Hutchinson, and Nelson Hutchinson. Fred will be remembered fondly by his sisters-in-law Marlene and Joan, and by his many nieces, nephews and their families.
Fred was a very hardworking and handy man of few words. He was a welder by trade and worked many years at the Collingwood Shipyards and Teledyne / B.T.I. in Thornbury. Fred was extremely proud of his family and his roots. He really enjoyed camping, and even when they would get away on a holiday, he was happiest if he could keep busy cutting up brush or helping out with a little job here and there. He will be missed but never forgotten.
Fred’s family will receive friends at the Ferguson Funeral Home in Meaford on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 from 4 until 6 p.m.
