It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Hugh Gary Lamont, age 81, on Saturday May 27, 2023.
Hugh is survived by his daughter Shaun and husband Ken, and survived by the light of his life, his grandchildren, Brendon, Keenan (Samantha) and Kiera (Chris). Hugh is also survived by his brother Don (Lise) and family. Hugh also held close to his heart his nieces and nephews who were like his own. Brian (Laurie, Noah, Kevin, Kristy, Nathan and Landon), Greg, Bruce (Lori), Donna Mae, Tara (Harvey, Hailey and Lauryn), Chris (Kristina, Adanna, Jayden and Greg).
Hugh was predeceased by the love of his life, Diane; parents Earle and Ethel; mother and father-in-law Henry and Hilda; brother and sister-in-law, Lorne and Lorna and nephew Jim.
Hugh began his journey in the construction business at a young age of 16. Shortly after, Hugh opened his business, LAMONT TRUCKING which he owned and operated for 50 years. Through his career, he met many lifelong friends. Hugh’s passion for trucks and equipment stayed with him until the very end.
When Hugh and Diane weren’t working, they enjoyed travelling and spending time at the lake. Hugh loved spending time with his family, especially his daughter Shaun and grandchildren. As the grandchildren grew up, a new passion was born, spending countless hours supporting and watching all of the activities the kids enjoyed. He never missed a game or event the kids participated in.
Within the more recent years, Hugh enjoyed special times with each grandchild. Whether it was having weekend drinks with Brendon, going on day trips to the Casino with Keenan, or hourlong rides around the country with Kiera, checking out all the new construction projects, he held these memories close to his heart.
Friends and Family are invited to a celebration of life that will be held at the Kyle Memorial Golf Couse on July 6th from 5:00-7:00. Hugh’s final resting place will be back home in Dominion City where there will be a private graveside interment at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory can be made to the Roseau Crossing Heritage Park & Pool or to the Dominion City Arena.
The family would like to thank all the healthcare workers at the Emerson Personal Care home for their care and compassion as well as the Emerson-Franklin First Responders for all the calls they came to when Hugh needed help. We would also like to send a very special thank you to all the friends and family that have reached out to them during this very difficult time. The support has been overwhelming and appreciated.
As Hugh always said, friends and family are the most important thing to have.
