HUBERT WILLIAM HOLMES
August 4, 1930- March 24, 2024
Hubert William Holmes passed away peacefully at Thunder Bay Regional Hospital with his family by his side.
Dad was born in Port Arthur, Ontario and lived in Mabella, Ont. till the age of four, then moving to Port Arthur.
Dad worked as a river driver when young a time he was especially fond of. He also worked as a truck driver, mechanic and welder. After going back to school he joined the Ontario Provincial Police and served
in Port Arthur, Armstrong, Manitoulin Island and finally retiring as Detective Sergeant from Kenora.
After retiring Dad and mom built their home on Shebandowan Lake where he and mom lived till late fall of 2023. Dad and mom wintered in Florida and Prince George, British Columbia for several years.
Dad enjoy the outdoors, fishing and hunting. Family was very important to him

Survived by his wife of 73 years Eva, son Bill (Judy and Alyson), daughter Jeanette (Kathryn, Aaron and Abraham),(Neil, Breanne, Jasper and Eva).
Also survived by relatives in Canada and Finland.
Predeceased by parents Walter and Mary, sister Theresa Niitynen (Timo) and Grandson Kol.
As per Dad’s wishes there will be no service.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 575 Central Avenue, Thunder Bay.
