1940-2024
It is with great
sadness that the family of Hubert James Redden of South Alton, Kings
County, announces his death on Thursday, September 12, 2024. Dad
passed away peacefully, in his sleep, at home, exactly where he wanted
to be.
He was a son of the
late Emerson and Winnifred (Meister) Redden.
He devoted most of his
working career being employed with Willett Fruit Company and later
Bolands, driving truck and later becoming a salesman on the road. He
was a member of the South Alton Baptist Church and supported various
organizations such as the IWK, RCMP and War Amps. He was part of the
South Alton Tug of War team and later became a team coach. He was an
avid hockey player and played on various teams. He had a great love
for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, snow mobiling, working
in the woods and enjoying time at his camp with family and friends. He
also enjoyed raising cattle and had his own team of oxen. He enjoyed
music, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his
family.
Dad had many stories
to share and always had many old sayings he liked to use. He always
said he loved his family, more than we would know.
He is survived by son,
Danny, South Alton; two daughters, Sandra (Curtis) DeAdder, South
Alton; Brenda (Fred) Hutchinson, Avonport; sister, Helen Adie, Comox,
BC; brother, Harold (Clara) Redden, Cambridge; four grandchildren,
Ashlie, Travis, Oliver and Nicholas and two great-grandchildren,
Everleigh and Taylor.
He was predeceased by
his wife, Carolyn; sisters, Rita Bowman, Virginia Bilgen, Gladys Hunt,
Hazel Lake, Mary Schurman, Rose Doyle and Birdie Moores; brothers,
Terrance and Earl; both in infancy, Robert, Basil, Clyde, Chesley and
Emery.
Visitation will be
held from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 2 p.m., followed by
a reception, on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 in the White Family
Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Ivan Norton officiating. A
livestream of the service will be available for those unable to
attend. Interment will take place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam
Mill.
The family would like

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral
Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
God gave us a beautiful
