Peacefully at Victoria Hospital on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at the age of 101. Hilda May Abel, devoted daughter of Tom and Amy Giles. Beloved wife of the late Thornley Kenneth Abel (1979). Cherished mother of Thornley “Tom” (Freida) Abel, David Abel, and Kingsley (Lois) Abel. Missed by grandchildren Linda (late Glenn) Margison, Charles Abel, Gordon Abel, Robin (Donna) Abel, Amy (Gareth) Raflewski and Katrina Abel, and by Katrina’s mother, Michelle. Proud great-grandmother of Daniel Margison, Emily Abel, Rachel Abel, Jacob Abel, Rory Raflewski, Eamonn Raflewski, and Declan Raflewski. Aunt of Bob and Sue Butler, Ted and Sharon Butler, Melody Ann and Jack Harasty, and missed by several cousins in England. Predeceased by her sister Patricia (Dutch) Butler. The family wishes to thank the many staff at Victoria Hospital for their loving and exceptional care of our dear one. Visitation will be held at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be conducted at St. John the Divine Anglican Church, 21557 Richmond Street, Arva on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Interment at St. John’s Arva Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Hilda are asked to consider a charity of their choice.
