Hilda Ingjaldson of Moosomin, Saskatchewan, beloved wife of the late Johann Ingjaldson, passed away at the Southeast Integrated Care Centre, Moosomin on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at the age of 90 years.
At Hilda’s request, a private family service will be held.
For those who so desire, memorial donations may be made to Moosomin & District Healthcare Foundation for CT Scanner Fund, P.O. Box 1470, Moosomin SK., S0G 3N0, or to St. Mary’s Parish Improvement Fund, P.O. Box 9, Moosomin SK., S0G 3N0 in memory of Hilda.
Hilda was born on the farm at Spring Valley on December 28,1933 to Martin and Magdalena Beitel. She was the second youngest of 13 children. She grew up in a close family which still exists today. Farm life was where she developed her work ethic: helping with the garden, stooking and milking cows.
Later she worked in Moose Jaw and in April 1951 she married Rudolph Beitel and moved to the Rocanville district to farm. There, they raised cattle, chickens, turkeys and had a huge garden. They had four children, Ron, Garry, Duane and Sheryl and sadly all have predeceased her.
Due to Rudy’s ill health, in 1979, they sold the farm and moved to Moosomin. Rudy passed away in 1981 and after several years of being alone, she joined the dancing community and met Johann Ingjaldson. They were married on September 30, 1988. They were such a great match, their love and devotion shone thru brightly. Gardening was always important to both of them, everything thrived, especially the flowers. Many of us benefited – taking boxes of perennials that they were happy to share. Hilda was often busy baking pies, making a pot of soup, quilting, working on a new craft or volunteering at the Armoury.
They gave dance lessons at the drop-in centre and were founding members of the Saskatchewan Pattern Dancers Association. They had the opportunity to travel, visiting Arizona, Hawaii, Germany as well as visiting so many towns to dance, including Manitou Beach.
Hilda has been blessed to have her grandsons Steven (Kirsten) and Joshua in her family as well as Johanns children – Brian (Tammy), Wayne (Marjorie), Joanne (David) and 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Hilda lost Johann in 2021, and the following year moved into Regency Court. She said it was like her extended family, she would go for morning coffee and often played cards in the evenings.
Hilda is survived by: her sister Millie Brunner, brother Ed Beitel, sister in laws Adela Macdonald, Doreen Johnson, Finna Decorby, Olive Firth and Arlene Carlier and many nieces, nephews and dancing friends.
While it’s difficult to say goodbye, remember Hilda’s words: “life has been good – I have been so blessed.”
