Always Our Mother, Forever Our Friend
God saw you getting tired, and a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around you and whispered, «Come with Me.» With tearful eyes, we watched you slowly fade away. Although we loved you dearly,
we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, your hard-working hands put to rest,
God broke our hearts to prove to us. He only takes the best. It’s lonesome here without you we miss you more each day. Life doesn’t seem the same since you have gone away. When days are so sad and lonely and everything goes wrong, we seem to hear you whisper “Cheer Up and Carry On” Each time we see your picture you seem to smile and say, “Don’t cry, I’m in God’s hands, we’ll meet again someday!”
It is with heavy hearts and deepest sorrow that the family of the late Hilda E Hayward (nee Hardiman) announce her peaceful passing on Thursday June 29th, 2023 at the age of 84 years, with her loving family by her side, at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre. Hilda was the daughter of the late Alpheaus and Elizabeth Hardiman (nee Williams). She was also predeceased by her husband, John Charles Hayward; son in-law. Ralph Anderson; sisters, Wilemina, Margaret Bird; brothers and sisters in-law, Bert Hayward, James (Lucy) Hayward, Arthur (Emily) Taylor, William Simms, Eric Ford and Harvey Howell.
She leaves to mourn with many fond and loving memories; her children, Golda (Kevin) Osmond, Margaret Anderson, Charlene Hayward, John (Elaine) Hayward, all of Port aux Basques, NL, Laura (Tony) Carter of Margaree, NL, Darlene (Allen) Nightingale of England, Rob (Cindy) Hayward, Denise (Jason) Gilliam, both of port aux Basques, NL, Sonya (Deon) Carroll of Margaree, NL; 19 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by her sisters; Annabelle Ford of Toronto ON, Theresa (Dolph) Clarke of Garnish, NL, Ida (Rod) Ford of Port aux Basques, NL, Susan (Leonard) Eddy of Trinity Bay, NL; brother James (Eva) Hardiman, Garfield (Colleen) Hardiman both of St. Catherine’s; sister in-law, Lillian Howell, Beatrice (Edward) Duhart, Ellen Simms, Marie Hayward all of Port aux Basques, NL, plus a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Thank you to the Doctors, Nurses and Staff of Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre for all the wonderful care you all gave our mother during this time.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, July 1st Saturday July 2nd, 2023 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at East Haven Funeral Home Inc., 57 Grand Bay Road, Port aux Basques. The funeral service will take place on Monday, July 3rd, 2023 at 2 pm from St. James Anglican Church, officiated by the Rev. Jane Allen. Internment to follow at St. James Anglican Cemetery. Flowers are graciously accepted and donations in memory of Hilda can be made to St James Anglican Church.
