It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of a loving Husband,Father and Grandfather. Herder Lindsay Chatman of Cannings Cove aged 70yrs 10mths. Who passed away suddenly at his home on Saturday Nov 4th 2023. Predeceased by his parents William(Bill) & Cornelia Chatman,infant brothers,brother Reginald(a child),sister Daphne Ellis,step sister Doris Clouter and brother in law Irving Stead.
Left to mourn are is wife of 33yrs Norma Stringer , his children Amy(Bradly) Ashley(Justin) Amber(Jhostyn) son Ian,3 granddaughters Kendal,Gracie,Charlotte and grandsons Layton and Isaac Emberly. Sister Eva Stead,brother Harvey (Barb) Chatman and a large extended family & friends.
Herder worked at Hickman Motors/Truck Centre as a parts technician for 15yrs in St.John’s. After leaving Hickman Motors he became Shop Stewart for the Teamsters Local 855.Herder worked at the Hibernia Project,Terra Nova Project Voisey Bay project,Long Harbour and the Hebron Project.Traveled to Alberta to work for SunCor to provide a good life for his family.
In his spare time he enjoyed boating,fishing and cutting his firewood in the fall.Herder loved watching his favorite hockey team the Montreal Canadians,he loved a good game of cards and crossword puzzles. Herder was a little bit of a jokester who loved to tease and have a good laugh. Herder provided a loving home for his wife and girls and enjoyed being a grandpa. He was a kind and friendly man and made friends wherever he went and once you were his friend he considered you a friend for life.
