DOREY, Herbert Joseph Dorey, Arichat/West Arichat
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father Herbert Joseph Dorey who passed away at his residence in St. Anne Community & Nursing Care Centre in Arichat on March 18, 2024.
Born July 4, 1935, in Arichat, he was the son of the late Peter Alexander and Laura May (Deslauriers) Dorey.
Herbert spent his early years as a wheelsman on lake boats in Ontario. He was later known as the Mechanic that could fix anything. Our dad loved to tell jokes, and make people laugh. He also enjoyed fishing, just driving around, and telling stories.
He is survived by his son Elmer (Linda) Dorey, St. Mary’s; daughters Charlene (Ray) Dorey, Edmonton, Alberta, and Dale (Norman) Mikkelson, West Kelowna, BC; grandchildren Tanya Lemont, and Ryan Lenny; great-grandchildren CeCe Lenny, and Malakye Lemont, all from Edmonton, Alberta; sisters Alice Landry, Petit de Grat, Amelia (Ronald) Ross, St. Mary’s, Edith Boudreau, Pictou, Coreen (Wilfred) Bouchard, Calgary, Alberta; brother Velma Dorey, Kempt Road. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or funeral service. Burial will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations can be made to St. Anne Community & Nursing Care Centre in Arichat.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home Ltd., Arichat.
