Ken Yates age 82 passed away peacefully at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, on September 21, 2023 with his loving wife Dorothy by his side.
He was predeceased by his parents Eric and Ella Yates. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife of 62 years Dorothy; son Terry (Lisa); and daughter Kendy. Also left to mourn are his brother Fred (Gladys-deceased); sisters Loraine (Gord-deceased); and Susan (Rob). Ken also leaves behind a large circle of family and friends who will miss him dearly.
Ken was born on July 3, 1941 to Eric and Ella Yates of Howley, NL. Later the family moved to Corner Brook where Ken grew up. When Ken finished school, he joined his father’s survey business. He married the love of his life Dorothy, on Sept 2, 1961, and they welcomed 2 children.
Ken dedicated his life to Jehovah God as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1957. Serving Jehovah alongside his wife was their life. Ken was a loving shepherd and served faithfully as an elder until his death. Two scriptures that he found comfort in as his health deteriorated, and which he often shared with others … Acts 24:15- «There is going to be a resurrection.» Rev 21:4- «Death will be no more.»
We are confident Ken will be a beneficiary of these promises that were dear to him.
The Memorial service (along with a Zoom connection) will take place at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 110 Magee Road, Gander, NL. A1V-2R3. Details will be posted later.
