Obituary of Helen Winola Ashley
ASHLEY, Helen Winola – age 73 of Elmsdale, passed away peacefully on December 18th, 2024, in Musquodoboit Valley Home for Special Care (Braeside Nursing Home), Middle Musquodboit. Born in Yarmouth, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Elizabeth (Churchill) Fevens.
Helen was a very caring individual and loved people. She was outgoing and could strike up a conversation with anyone. Helen was a determined woman when it came to her goals; she went back to school in her fifties and became a registered nurse. With her husband away a lot for work in the military, she was very involved in raising their children. Helen will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
Helen is survived by her husband, Jim; children, Liz, Andrew and Loran (Stephanie); grandchildren, Hailey, Kaden, Sarah, Lyric, Amelia; sister, Enid (Andrew) Elliott; several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her granddaughter, Brooke.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life visitation will be held at the Elmsdale Fire Hall, 720 Highway 2, Elmsdale, on Saturday, January 11th, 2025, from 2 – 4 pm.
Donations in Helen’s memory can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Braeside Nursing Home for their care and compassion.
