Obituary
Shand, Helen Pauline – Age 82 of Nakile Nursing Home, formerly of Bay Vista Apartments of Barrington Passage and Shag Harbour passed away peacefully March 8th at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital surrounded by family. She was the daughter of the late Sylvester Newell and Mae (Nickerson) Newell.
In her earlier years Mom enjoyed spending time in Clyde at the cottage and would often bring her Grandchildren along. She also spent many weekends there with her Mom and Dad. Mom loved Christmas and loved to be surrounded by her family. Her pride and joy was her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren, her face would light up for them as soon as she would see them. Mom was very loving and kind, she loved going to the Salvation Army to look for jewelry, trinkets, purses, anything with glitter or anything sparkly, she would have to buy. In her later years, when she couldn’t get out much, she loved to watch the hummingbirds come to her feeders, she also enjoyed watching baseball games on tv, she was a Blue Jays fan. Mom enjoyed drives with her brother looking for deer and visits with her sister Lois. Mom will be forever missed by all that knew her but, she will be especially missed by her family that will miss her hugs, her warm smile, her laugh and will forever miss her love.
She is survived by her sister, Lois Newell and brother, Sylvester Jr. (Shirley) Newell and her son, Douglas (Darlene) Shand and daughter, Donna Shand, as well as grandchildren Stephanie, (Corey) Goreham, Jonathan (Charmaine) Shand and Justin Goreham, and great grandchildren, Amy, Austin and Drew.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by the father of her children, Roger Shand, her companion, Milton Townsend and brother in law, Billy Newell.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home , Barrington. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation by request. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
