DELLEI, Helen Mary (nee: Lehocki) It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Helen “Mama” Dellei, peacefully, surrounded by her family on February 16th, 2023, at the Welland Hospital at the incredible age of 100. Beloved mother of Olga (the late Albert) Mecsei, grandmother to Shirley (Clive) Mecsei – Smith and Albert (Kathleen) Mecsei. Much adored great-grandmother to Joel, Aaron, Samuel, Jonah, Jarrod, Katelyn (Brodie) and Jessica (Sterling). Great-great-grandmother to Hayley and Clover. Predeceased by her brothers Joseph (Patricia) Lehocki and John (Helen) Lehocki. Mama will be missed by her many nieces and nephews.
Mama’s entire life was devoted to the family she loved. Also known as the Grand Matriarch of the Welland Hungarian Community, Mama was cherished and respected by generations of friends and all those who were blessed to have known her.
The family will receive their friends at the H. L. Cudney Funeral Home, 241 West Main Street, Welland on Thursday, February 23, 2023 from 5-8 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held in the Cudney Chapel on Friday, February 24th at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to UHN Foundation to support the Living Donor Kidney Program at Toronto General Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
