Helen (nee Ellen Monteleone) passed away quietly in the early morning of natural causes, only a few weeks past her 93rd birthday. She wanted to make it to THAT birthday! She was looking forward to being reunited with her loved ones that had passed before her including her 1st husband Mickey and 2nd husband Harry, her two wonderful sons, Michael Anthony Howe and George Alfred Howe, her sisters Rose, Eva, Rita and her much loved parents Dominic and Maria.
Helen is survived by her cherished daughters Theresa-Ann Marshall (Jim Marshall), Rosemary-Jean Thompson (Don Thompson) and daughter-in-law Darlene Howe (George) . She also leaves behind her treasured grandchildren Richard Howe, Michelle Brunelle, Nicole Schroeder, Thomas Howe, James Marshall, Amanda Marshall and Hannah-Marie Gibbs, her many delightful great grandchildren and precious extended family (you know who you are!).
Helen was destined to be a glamour girl with her stunning beauty and shining personality until meeting her first husband Mickey when she chose a life committed to nurturing family instead. A dedicated mother and wife she used her creative talents to build family and enhance her community. PTA president, Community Centre Director and fundraising coordinator were just a few of her accomplishments during those years. Divorce would have her efforts changed to focusing on becoming a strong independent woman and homemaker of the 70’s. Helen enjoyed a rewarding career in hospitality as a server with White Spot Restaurant in Vancouver until her retirement in 1994. She found love again and married Harry Hunter in 1999. They spent many joyful years together before his passing. Helen cheerfully lived out her later years in Richmond and recently moved to Burnaby. She loved spending time with good friends both old and new. Helen highly valued family for whom she was so proud of and loved spending time with. She will be remembered with much love and thankfulness. We will miss her tremendously until we are together again. We love you, Helen!
