Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that the families of Hector (Tate) Wight announce his passing at the Bay St. George’s Senior Home in Stephenville Crossing on Thursday, January 5th, 2023, at the age of 92 years.
Left with loving and fond memories his wife of 66 years; Rowena (nee Taylor), his children; Marilyn (Ken Kennedy), Lexie (Jeff Specker), Tate Jr (Ailish), and Peter, his grandchildren; Candace (Colin Matthews), Janice Parsons, Lexie (Jonathan McKenzie), Jana (Ryan Spurrell), Janessa (Trevor Wood), Jeffrey Specker (Samantha), Bianca (Cameron Alkins), Fiona Wight, Lily Wight, and Anna Wight, his great grandchildren; Isaac Matthews, Sam Matthews, Finley Leishman, Evie Leishman, Max McKenzie, Avery McKenzie, and Maya Spurrell, his sisters; Winona White, and Hazel (James Bingle), his sisters-in-law; Eva Wight, Rosie Wight, Ruby (Gene Locke), and Isabel Simms, his brother-in-law; Kevin Taylor (Jessie Osmond), and a large circle of family and friends especially those at the tablelands seniors complex,
Tate was predeceased by his parents; Ellen and Wilson Wight, his brothers; Gorden, Roy, and Norman, his mother and father-in-law; Linda and Chesley Taylor, his sister-in-law; Jane Taylor, and brother-in-law; Walter Simms.
A special thanks to the kind and compassionate caregivers at the Bay St. George’s Long Term Care Facility.
In lieu of flowers donations made to the Children’s wish foundation in Tate’s memory would be gratefully appreciated by the family.
The family will be receiving family and friends at Parsons Funeral Home 63 North Main Street, Deer Lake, NL, on Monday, January 9th, 2023, from the hours of 12-1:00 pm, where also the Celebration of Life service will take place from on Monday, January 9th, 2023, at 1:30 pm, and the burial to follow at the Pentecostal Church cemetery in Birchy Head with Pastor Tea officiating.
