It is with extreme sadness that the family of Heather Jean Lantz, 49, of Lunenburg, announces her passing on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.
Born in Lunenburg, Heather was a daughter of Hilda Weisner (Church) of Armstrong Rd. and the late Carl Weisner.
Heather’s love of working with children started when she was a Nanny in Chester for two lovely families. From this Heather developed a great love of working with young children and over her career was a Classroom Teacher, Special needs Teacher, Assistant Director and Director of the local Day Care for over 25 years. She also spent a year as the Director of the Centre De La Petite Enfance – Rive Sud in Cookville. After which she retired to spend more time with her family.
She was co-owner and avid bowler of the Lunenburg Bowling Center and a great support to her husband Jody, where she facilitated the youth programs at the bowling alley for over 25 years.
She also loved all activities that her daughter was in. Even though she never played any sports herself she was first there to help any way she could. She even took the Nova Scotia Soccer Coaching course so she could help her husband coach with West Nova Fuels which she did for close to ten years and was everyone’s “Soccer Mom”.
Heather enjoyed the simple pleasures of life at home, her family were so important. She treasured quality times with her daughter Grace, husband Jody, sister Carol and her partner Jeff. She was always the happiest on the special trips to her favourite place on earth, Disney World where she spent four wonderful family vacations. She loved decorating for her favourite holidays Christmas and Halloween. Her favourite times at home was spent on her deck with her loving family enjoying the sunshine, birds and squirrels during the day and watching movies on the big screen at night.
Besides her mother, Hilda Weisner, Heather is survived by her husband, Jody and daughter Grace; sisters, Lisa MacDonald, Windsor Rd. ; Kathy Weisner, Armstrong Rd., Carol Weisner (Jeff Carver), Lunenburg; brothers, Karl and Allan Weisner both of Armstrong Rd.; nephews, Colby, James, Joseph (MacKenzie) and niece, Katie (Sean); great niece, Charley and great nephew, Alex; father and mother-in-law, Robert and Dorothy Lantz, Mader’s Cove and brothers-in-law, Terry (Anna) Lantz, Mahone Bay and Clyde (June) Lantz, Smeltzer Rd.

Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny funeral home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg, and from where a service for family to celebrate Heather’s life will be held on Friday. Interment will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Heather’s memory may be made to SHAID Tree Animal Shelter.
