Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Hazel Amanda Smith, age 84. Hazel passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at Yarmouth Regional Hospital. She was a daughter of the late Elton & Clara Smith. Hazel was born in Atwoods Brook on November 17, 1938.
Hazel loved the lord and was a member of the Shag Harbour United Baptist Church for nearly 50 years and attended faithfully until her health wouldn’t allow her to do so. Hazel loved her family and enjoyed her outings with her daughter and son. She enjoyed visits and phone calls as she always wanted to know how everyone was and what they were doing.
Hazel was a loving and dedicated mother to son, Monty (Nancy), daughter Joy (Michael). She was an adored grandmother to Jeremy (Kara), Jenna (Shaun), Travis (Debbie), Brennan (Samantha) and Shannon (Karine). She was a cherished great grandmother to Makynzie, Shaylie and Taylor Smith, Carter and Leah Kennedy, Kaysen and Brysen Smith, Thomas, Margaret and Sarah Goreham, Maxwell and Eli Smith. Hazel is survived by sisters, Joyce Forbes and Dot (Garry) Goreham and brother in law, Morton (Irene), step grandchildren, Matthew (Natasha), Emily (Greg), 5 step great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents , she was predeceased by her loving husband, Emery, daughter in law, Sharon, infant brother, Douglas and brother in law, Merle.
Arranagments are under the care and direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Barrington. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Saturday, September 30, 2023 from 6-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, October 1, 2023 at 2 p.m. Pastor Don Scheel officiating. Burial to follow in Old Farm Cemetery, Shag Harbour.
