Obituary
Passed away peacefully at Meaford Long Term Care Centre on August 3, 2023. Born in Keppel Township, Ontario, on September 5, 1933, Harvey James Hewitson of Owen Sound, was in his 90th year.
Beloved husband of the late Colleen (née Lundy) Hewitson (Feb. ’21). Loving father of Ken Hewitson (Sherry) of Owen Sound and Cathy Best (André) of Barrie. Cherished grandfather of Vanessa Hewitson, Evelyn Quigley (Jarrod), Bobby Hewitson (Shyla), Kenny Hewitson (Kloe), Michael Hewitson, Lily Best and Linnea Best. Cherished great-grandfather of Anthony Hewitson (Paige), Quinn and Kaylee Quigley, and Owen, Lily and Grayson Hewitson and great-great grandfather of William and Autumn. Dear brother-in-law of Doug (Irene) Lundy of Burlington. Harvey will also be remembered by his nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Predeceased by his parents George and Hazel Hewitson (nee – Nelson) and by his siblings; Lavern Hewitson (Donelda), Earl Hewitson (Edna), Norma Hammell (Lorne), Alma Moy (George), Marie Beacock (Carl), Marilyn Frigon (Marlene).
Visitation will be held at Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 14th St. W., Owen Sound, 519-376-7492, on Thursday, August 10, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. with a Masonic Lodge service to start at 12:45 p.m. A funeral service to celebrate Harvey’s life will follow at 1:00 p.m., with Rev. Kara McCluskie officiating. For those who are unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed via the funeral home website. Interment will take place at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Georgian Bluffs.
Those wishing to make a memorial donation are asked to consider the Keady-North Derby United Church.
