Gerald Harvey passed away peacefully at the age of 70 surrounded by his family at Lee Manor, Owen Sound on Saturday December 16, 2023.
Born in Meaford on March 22, 1953, he was the son of the late Ernest and Beryl (nee Wood) Harvey.
He was the beloved father of John (Donna) English of Owen Sound, Jerry (Lynne Conway) Harvey of Meaford, Josh Harvey of Meaford, Justin (Heather) Harvey of Meaford. Gerald held a special place in his heart for his two granddaughters Ainsley and Reese Harvey.
Survived by Catherine (Jules) Giguere of Meaford, Alex Harvey of Meaford, Betty (Ken) Lisk of Owen Sound, Delbert (Nancy) Harvey of Meaford, Bill (Carol) Harvey of Meaford, Barry (Anna) Harvey of Owen Sound, Wanda Harvey of Meaford and Rick (Laura) Harvey of Meaford.
He will be missed by his former wife Karen (nee Casey) Harvey of Markdale, many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and friends he has made along the way.
Predeceased by his brothers Ronald, Larry, Peter, Don, Terry and a still born sister Joan Marie.
Gerald was known for both working hard and playing hard throughout his life. He worked as a welder at the Collingwood Shipyards until he was injured in a work-related accident. Following this you would often find him working on cars completing body work. In Gerald’s later years of life he would often enjoy a good competitive game of cribbage against one of his sons or a good game of checkers against his granddaughters.
The family of Gerald would like to thank Participation Lodge (Holland Centre) for their many years of care and kindness. As well as Lee Manor (Owen Sound) who provided excellent care over the past few months.
Cremation has taken place and a private family service will take place at Lakeview Cemetery in Meaford.
A Celebration of Gerald’s Life will take place in the New Year, on Friday, January 26, 2024 at the Meaford and St. Vincent Community Centre from 3 until 6 p.m., with tributes shared at 4 o’clock.
